The Chief Justice of Nigeria , Tanko Ibrahim Muhammad has resigned last night on the grounds of health,and Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be sworn in as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. Justice Tanko was very famous for his anti-lynching stance on blasphemy.
In October 2007, Ibrahim and Mariam Muktar influenced the unanimous Supreme Court judgement to uphold the death penalty on Youths who lynched a man in Kebbi for blasphemy.

The culprits Musa Yaro, Abubakar Dan Shalla and other defendants had killed a schizophrenic man in June 1999 in Kebbi State for insulting the Prophet(SAW). Justice Ibrahim who’s trained in Islamic Law and his team ,had warned about the potential of blasphemy law abuse in the future.
